One Ocean Expedition Artist Residency

I was lucky enough to be selected to accompany Next Generation Sonoran Researchers, alongside 3 other incredible artists, to voyage aboard the Staatsrad Lehmkuhl as part of the United Nation's One Ocean Expedition. We sailed the coast of Baja alongside 70 other marine-focused researchers and organizational leaders, along with the tall ship's Norwegian crew. The expedition is an international voyage which is collecting data throughout the oceans of the nothern hemisphere, and my role as an artist for the Mexico league of the journey was to make art about ocean conservation and help to communicate about the "why" behind marine research. I created a trip journal for the voyage, and led a cyanotype workshop where participants reflected on their reasons for doing the conservation work that they do.
